| Abstract: | This paper is aimed at synthesizing and studying the stabilization of selenium nanoparticles in a medium of water-soluble nonionic surfactants. Selenium nanoparticles were obtained by chemical reduction in an aqueous medium. Selenous acid was used as a selenium-containing precursor, nonionic surfactants were stabilizers, and ascorbic acid acted as a reducing agent. At the first stage, the optimal nonionic surfactant was determined for the stabilization of selenium nanoparticles. The obtained samples were studied by dynamic light scattering and acoustic and electroacoustic spectroscopy. It was found that nanoselenium samples stabilized with Tween 80 have the smallest radius (16 nm), and the zeta potential was 17.91 mV. Further, the obtained samples were examined using transmission electron microscopy. The analysis of the obtained micrographs showed that the selenium nanoparticles stabilized with Tween 80 have a spherical shape, and the radius lies in the range from 12 to 22 nm. At the final stage, we studied the effect of exposure time on the aggregative stability of selenium nanoparticles. The results obtained showed that after 5 weeks of exposure, aggregates were formed in the sample, and the average particle radius increased by 2.8 times from 16 to 45 nm. |
