Abstract: This paper discusses the features of diagnosing automobile internal combustion engines using a vacuum gauge. This method has been known for a long time but is little used for diagnostics. The work describes methods for diagnosing mechanisms and systems of modern internal combustion engines by changing the vacuum at different connection points of the device and considers methods for diagnosing auxiliary systems that are mechanically driven using pneumatic chambers. By considering these examples, we can conclude that the indicators of the method of vacuum diagnostics of auxiliary engine systems, connected by vacuum lines to the intake manifold or vacuum pump, are unambiguous. Conclusions are drawn on the quantitative assessment of vacuum values for various designs of in-line, V-shaped atmospheric gasoline engines of different volumes.
