Abstract: Condensation of cyclohexanone, acetone, and malononitrile taken in a molar ratio of 2 : 1 : 3, in ethanol in the presence of piperidine yielded the previously undescribed 4′-amino-5′-imino-1′H,3′H-dispiro[cyclohexane-1,2′-naphthalene-7′,1′′-cyclohexane]-3′,3′,6′,6′(5′H)-tetracarbonitrile in 55% yield. The molecular and crystal structures of the product were studied using single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis.
