A comparative analysis of the effectiveness of antibacterial therapy for mycoplasma infection in children with bronchial asthma who received long-term therapy with inhaled glucocorticosteroids was conducted. All patients underwent a microbiological examination of throat swabs for susceptibility to antimicrobial agents. Empirically, after the diagnosis of mycoplasma infection was confirmed, most patients were prescribed macrolides, but the results of the bacteriological analysis revealed a high degree of resistance of M. pneumoniae to macrolides, particularly to azithromycin. Inadequate initial antibiotic therapy leads to prolonged persistence of the pathogen in the body, and the ongoing basic therapy with ICS, by suppressing local immunity, exacerbates bronchial hyperreactivity and leads to a more severe course of bronchial asthma. The conducted study demonstrates the need for mandatory individual selection of antibacterial therapy with determination of the sensitivity of mycoplasma to antimicrobial agents. This will increase the effectiveness of treatment, reduce the risk of chronicization of the infectious process and achieve control over the course of bronchial asthma in children.ru
