Abstract: The paper examines the use of the tournament approach in the educational process on the example of the economic model "repeated prisoner's dilemma". Students study the model design using the UML and implement the solution to the "Tournament of Strategies" problem using an object-oriented language. The advantages of the proposed themes are "junction" of the economy and important for programming in Computer Sciences Economic Institutions; the development of a diverse set of skills (economics, game theory, design, UML, modeling, object-oriented design and programming, Java, Eclipse); introduction of a creative, competitive moment into the educational process, as well as an element of intrigue
