The efficiency assessment of nanosized zinc oxide (ZnO) as a component of a high-potency wound-healing ointment composition was performed. The ointment consisted of a hydrophilic methylcellulose base and 5 wt. % ZnO nanoparticles as an active substance. Nanosized ZnO was obtained by the sol-gel method. Commercial zinc ointment was used as a comparison sample. Planimetric studies were conducted on the effectiveness of burn-wound healing in white Wistar rats. Three cases were considered: wounds were treated using a pharmaceutical zinc ointment or the ointment with ZnO nanoparticles, or received no treatment. Histological studies of the effectiveness of wound healing on treatment with the ointment containing ZnO nanoparticles were also performed. The ointment with the nanosized ZnO-based composition based had a pronounced regenerative effect on burn wounds. Its effect was greater than that of the existing analog – pharmaceutical zinc ointmentru
