Abstract: The article examines the natural-climatic and socio-cultural prerequisites for the emergence of analogues of social tourism in the resorts of the Caucasian Mineral Waters. Despite the fact that at the initial stage of the CMW development the very concept of “social tourism” did not yet exist, some of its principles were successfully implemented in the region. At the time of the emergence of resorts, it is undoubtedly a question of charity. Also, in the initial period of the development and development of Hot Waters, private donations played an important role, mainly from those who came to Vody in gratitude for the cure.
