Abstract: The article describes the state of food security in Russia on the basis of a retrospective analysis of various indicators reflecting this state, as well as their dynamic change in various types and groups of food (mainly economic). On the basis of these data, it will be possible to assume further trends in the state of food security of the state which determines the importance of research. Thus, the purpose of this article is to determine the level of food security in the Russian Federation for the period under review from 2016 to 2018 (in some cases to 2019), as well as to study the composition and structure of indicators that characterize this assessment, and to determine future prospects and trends. In order to determine the level of food security in the Russian Federation for the period under review from 2016 to 2018 (in some cases to 2019), as well as to study the composition and structure of indicators that characterize this assessment, we used data from the statistical services of the State. To carry out the statistical analysis STAISTICA and Microsoft Excel soft were used with application of descriptive statistical analysis, prescriptive analysis and ANOVA. The results of the study reflect a set of various interrelated indicators that ultimately provide data on the actual state of food security in the Russian Federation. Agriculture in the Russian Federation accounts for about 2.7% of all operating organizations. However, the dynamics of changes for the period from 2016 to 2018 is negative-the decrease was 0.3% and at the time of 2016 was 3.0% of the total. In the period under review, the positive dynamics of food consumption accounted for only 4 positions, where the growth varies from 1.9% for “Fish products” to 3.7% for “Fresh fruit”. If we consider the production of livestock products, then for the period from 2016 to 2019, there is a positive trend in most positions. The exception in this case is such items as “Wool” and “Honey”, the dynamics of which is steadily decreasing from year to year, falling by 10.7% and 7.2%, respectively. Analysis of self-sufficiency indicators. The authors concluded that the emerging and progressive negative trend in the field of food security cannot but attract attention, however, this does not mean that the situation is critical. Now it is in such a position that problems can be solved both by general and targeted impact on them.
