The article presents the theoretical aspects and results of an empirical study of health-preserving practices of the population living in the southern regions of Russia. We give a review of modern publications on active lifestyles, physical education and sports for various categories of the population. The results of a survey of the population of Stavropol Territory on this topic are analysed in segmentation by types of settlements, age groups and income levels of the population. The main priorities of health-preserving practices of residents of the south of Russia have been identified. Conclusions are drawn about the nature of the request for the development of social infrastructure aimed at promoting an active lifestyle, physical education and sports, and the need for a systematic approach to solving these issues. Maintaining an active lifestyle and health-preserving practice has a positive effect on the quality of life of the population and maintaining the stability of the demographic situation in the region.ru
