Abstract: The article presents ways to reduce losses in supply chains using agricultural products supplies as a case study. The relevance of the topic under consideration stems from fact that, regardless of the region or the country, food losses can equal more than 30% throughout the supply chain. The study aimed to determine how important are individual components of the logistics infrastructure and information systems for managing food supply chains in developed and emerging markets. It was found that the structure of losses in developed and developing economies differs. The study hypothesis that the improvement of logistics services and supply chain manageability reduces losses in food supply chains was statistically confirmed. Using the example of Russia and Germany, it was revealed that an increase in investments in highly specialised supply chain management software and the advancement of logistics infrastructure are able to reduce losses in food supply chains.
