| Abstract: | This chapter provides a detailed history of teacher education in Russia, dating back to the 12th century to the present day. The official teacher education in Russia was started in the 18th century, but as an integrated form for seminarians, the course comprised multiple disciplines like general history, mythology, rhetoric, Russian, Greek, Latin, German and French and included a year of pedagogical study. The early 20th century in teacher education was marked by the opening in St. Petersburg in 1903, which gradually evolved under influences such as the Marxist worldview; the 1900s witnessed a constant development of teacher education on the whole. Present-day teacher education focused on programmes in areas such as teacher education, preschool education, special education, and psychological pedagogy. The chapter describes the evolution of teacher internship and the transition of internship in the 90s. The chapter introduces various models of internship, such as aspects of pedagogical practice, prolonged pedagogical practice, intensive-discrete pedagogical practice, tutor pedagogical practice, quasi-practice and traditional practice. |
