Abstract: The transmission spectra of magnetic fluids with magnetite nanoparticles in kerosene with a solid phase concentration from 0.01% to 15% in the range of 350-1050 nm have been studied. At a volume concentration of magnetite above 0.1%, a transmission maximum was found in the region of 730-750 nm. The maximum becomes more pronounced with an increase in the concentration of magnetite nanoparticles. The qualitative and quantitative description of the transmission spectra of magnetic fluids at volume concentrations above 0.5% is based on the theory of multiple light scattering by close-packed media.
