Abstract: Climate change urges all countries of the world to take measures for environmental protection for the current and future generations. Certain countries, which have large reserves of fossil energy resources, do not demonstrate significant achievements in the reduction of climate footprint, including from the activities of the entrepreneurial sector. However, on the whole, most countries, national companies and companies that function at the international and global levels implement changes in favour of climate protection. The role of entrepreneurship in the realisation of the strategy of green growth in developed and developing countries is assessed in this paper from the position of the reasons for its activation, impact on ecology and economic system. The main reasons for entrepreneurship’s participation in implementing the goals of green growth of countries are described, and the key prospects under the conditions of the energy transition to renewable energy are distinguished. The presented results are formulated within a comprehensive analysis of statistical, empirical and theoretical data on the transformations of entrepreneurship’s functioning in the considered countries in the context of the impact on the parameters of green growth. It is proved that striving toward economic integration in external markets and economic growth are the priority in companies’ selecting a course toward the achievement of green growth.
