V.D. Sukhorukov's manuscripts on the history of the Don cossacks history of creation and publications

Abstract

The article deals with history of creation of the manuscripts on Don Cossacks by Vasily Dmitrievich Sukhorukov (1795–1841) who was one of the founders of Don historiography. The comparison of editions and known drafts of the manuscripts “Historical description of Don Host Oblast” and “Statistical description of the Don Cossacks’ land composed in 1822–1832” are given. A number of issues concerning the history of manuscripts by Sukhorukov and his assistants as well as the history of their editions are addressed.
