Economic and legal aspects of industrial development of natural resource potential of the Arctic and Subarctic territories of the Komi Republic

Abstract

This paper examines the strategies of the Russian Federation for the exploration and study of industrial development of the natural resource potential of the Arctic and northern territories, in particular in one of the constituent entities of the Federation – the Komi Republic. Information is provided on the functioning and development of mineral deposits in the subarctic and arctic territories of the Republic. Analyzing official statistical data in the public domain and the latest information regarding the economic indicators of the development of subarctic and arctic cities and regions of Komi, the main trends in the development of industry and types of economic activity are identified. The dynamics of emissions polluting the ecosystem in the process of industrial development, as well as the number of reclaimed areas of the arctic and subarctic territories of the Komi Republic over the past years, from 2004 to 2022, are revealed. Certain trends and features of the consideration of such cases in the courts are highlighted, and measures and ways are proposed aimed at preventing existing environmental risks.
