Historical Science and History Education in Stavropol Krai as Components of the Local and National Intellectual Space Formation of the Higher Education System in the Region (Article 1)

Abstract

The article deals with history of establishment and development of the higher history education and historical science in Stavropol Krai in the first half of XX c. It also considers the origin of the research tradition and formation of the region’s intellectual space, fates of the historians, history of several institutions and organizations responsible for history education and training. Stavropol Pedagogical Institute’s (North-Caucasus Federal University now) Faculty of History is used as an example of how the higher education system in the region established and developed over the years as a part of the soviet society’s intellectual space.
