Abstract: By the end of the first quarter of the 21st century, the geopolitical situation has intensified scientific interest in patriotism and the media as a potential source of its formation. The peculiarities of fostering the ideas about patriotism in modern television journalism in the North Caucasus was carried out on the basis of 9 documentaries released in the last decade and 7 regional television programs. The analysis was aimed at characterizing the theme lines and television characters that contribute to the communication of patriotic values, and patriotism representations. The study has specified that regional television projects in the North Caucasus introduce the audience to various patriotic activities in the past and the present. They manifest patriotism as an important value guide. The strong point of patriotic documentary films in the North Caucasus Federal District is above all the visualization of the achievements of the regions and the country in different spheres — from cultural to military ones — based on the local history, including the recent history. Information-publicistic and information-analytical TV programs reflect the state of public opinion about patriotism as a value and the factors of its formation, record prevalent forms of patriotic activity in the region, and include issues of preserving traditional culture in the information agenda. TV journalists in the North Caucasus create a multifaceted image of a patriot who in practice proves their love for their native land and country. The defenders of the Fatherland — the participants of the Special Military Operation and the heroes of the Great Patriotic War — are among the personalities who most commonly personify the patriotic idea. In general, modern regional TV journalism in the North Caucasus serves as an important resource to communicate patriotic ideas.
