Abstract: The article discusses methods of training communication skills in linguistics and media studies with the use of AI-powered technologies. The study works out a model to train pragmatic interaction, pursuing and counteracting strategies and tactics, analyze its strong and weak points. The model is based on preliminary analysis of communication principle of balanced communication. The use of AI-assisted options in linguistics and media studies is given with account of their application and best practices of use. The selection of a prospective tool to be used in the developing the model was reasoned by its options of maintaining dialog interaction. The model rests on the accepted communication principles and target skills to be obtained within linguistics and media studies. On this basis, a comprehensive model has been developed. The model incorporates six stages: preliminary, introductory, preparatory, training, feedback and reflection ones. Each stage covers activities starting with communicative and technical aspects, proceeding with the functional and the reflection one. Prospective challenges in introduction and testing of the model in the academic context are analyzed, the ways to cope with them are proposed. The results of the study suggest that the introduction of AI-technologies in the process of training communication pragmatic skills requires comprehensive AI-powered tools so that various relevant skills could be trained.
