Islamic communities of North Ossetia and Soviet administrative structures: specifics of relationships in 1920—1991

Abstract

The article is devoted to bilateral relations between the Soviet authorities and the Muslim communities of North Ossetia in the late 1910s — early 1990s. The authors investigate the characteristic features of the interaction and confrontation between the Soviet administrative structures and the North Ossetian Islamic community in the period under the study and consider the specifics of the development of the Muslim religion on the territory of North Ossetia — the only republic of the North Caucasus in which Islam is not the dominant religion
