Information Space as a Means of Civil Society Development

Abstract

The authors attempted to keep a track of the development of Russian civil society within the information space. Also, they revealed the idea and peculiarities of approaches to the study of civil society and paid attention to the emergence of the civil society concept. Design/methodology/approach The verified methodological background of the research topic is buttressed by legal methods such as comparative-law, formal-law, and specific legal approaches, legal, and sociological methods. Findings The establishment of this type of society is contingent on the maturity of the economy and economic relations in the country, the legal system, legal culture and mindset of society, true freedom of person, effective public control over state authorities. The civil attributes are inherent in any society, but their maturity may differ. The article also addresses the institutions entering into the civil society system at the present stage of development. Uniqueness/value The article underlines promising areas of further studies on the emergence of civil society in the information space of today's Russia. The authors conclude that an in-depth and comprehensive study of civil society is impossible without an integrated interdisciplinary approach and account of the latest scientific developments.
