Abstract: The effect of porous mineral materials on increasing the temperature stability of stone mastic asphalt (SMA) in a wide range of operating temperatures was shown. It was established experimentally that the modification of stone mastic asphalt with porous mineral materials (expanded clay powder) contributes to the formation of a internal structure of the material that is more stable and less susceptible to temperature forces. The study of rheological characteristics of the proposed compositions has shown that stone mastic asphalt modified with expanded clay powder at high temperatures have higher stiffness, viscosity and relaxation time, and as a consequence, improved shear stability and durability. At low temperatures, the stiffness, viscosity and relaxation time of the modified SMA are lower than those of the standard compositions, which provides increased crack and frost resistance of the proposed material.
